Description:
A versatile sound chip capable of six different alarm sounds, including 4 various alarm sounds, a horn and an ambulance sound. Each of the six sounds can either be played independently by triggering one of the keys (K1 to K6), or can be cascaded, according to the key priorities (K1 to K6 from high to low), by triggering more than one key simultaneously. The device can directly drive a piezo transducer connected to pins 17 and 18, or can be modified for loudspeaker output on pin 17 (see diagram). Only a few components are needed to produce a working design. Simply connect a 120k resistor between pins 1 and 2, and a 560k resistor between pins 2 and 5. Similarly, connect a 1000pF capacitor between pins 13 and 14. Pins 7 to 12 trigger the different alarm sounds, with power to pin 6 and ground to pin 13.A suitable piezo sounder can now be connected between pins 17 and 18 for sound output. Additionally, pin 4 can source enough current to drive an LED via a suitable series resistor. The device requires a 2.4V to 4.5V DC supply and has a typical 1╡A standby current with a 3V supply, and features auto power. Supplied in 18-pin DIL package.
